Nearly 2,000 years ago, the Romans made the amphitheater the center of London—but for centuries, no trace was found of the massive structure.
It took a spot check under the town hall for the secret to be revealed, 20 feet deep beneath a long accumulation of rubble. How did excavators yield these treasures? How did these relics remain preserved for so long?
