| PHOTOGRAPH BY JUAN ARREDONDO | | In recognition of International Sloth Day, we thought we'd treat you to this heart-warming photograph of a pair of rescued two-toed sloths munching on apple slices at Fundación Aiunau, a rescue facility near Medellín, Colombia.
Founded in 1996, the facility takes care of sloths confiscated from poachers, found orphaned, or rescued from the pet trade. More than 300 sloths have been rehabilitated and released back to the wild. Sadly, three times as many haven’t survived. | | | |
