| Dear Friend,
For 135 years, the National Geographic Society has funded the best and brightest individuals dedicated to scientific discovery and understanding of our world.
Today, National Geographic Explorers continue their efforts, pushing the boundaries of knowledge, uncovering new insights about the natural and cultural worlds, and working to protect critical ecosystems and wildlife. Without support from caring individuals like you, these Explorers wouldn’t have the means necessary to serve as the global changemakers that they are, making a difference for countless people, animals, and environments across the globe.
Contributing Member support helps Explorers like Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant study how humans influence the behavior of large carnivores, with a focus on fostering harmony between people and bears. Her current field research is in the American Prairie Reserve in eastern Montana, but she has worked with African lions in Kenya and Tanzania, grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, and black bears in the Western Great Basin.
Can we count on you to become a Contributing Member today to ensure that important work like this continues? When you make a gift of $35 or more, you will receive a special edition National Geographic tote bag celebrating 135 years of Exploration.
| Modern global challenges make it more important than ever that we come together to inspire educators, youth, and future Explorers and help more people learn about, care for, and protect the wonder of our world.
Contributing Members allow Explorer Paul Salopek to trace the path of human migration out of Africa and across the globe for 24,000 miles through his Out of Eden Walk. Along his journey, he is covering the major stories of our time including climate change, mass migration, and cultural survival. His writings and recordings will create a global record of human life at the start of a new millennium, immortalizing the stories of the nomads, farmers, traders, soldiers, villagers, and artists whom he meets along the way.
Thank you in advance for all that you do to ensure that our Explorers can continue their vital work.
Sincerely, | | Wudassie Teklehaimanot Senior Director, Annual Giving & Membership National Geographic Society
