Fellow investor, this is the big email you've (hopefully) been waiting for.
My past messages have explained how billionaire Marc Lore and other forward-thinking entrepreneurs are building dozens of "cities of the future" around the world. Cities that could usher in a new age of technology that would benefit not only these particular cities, but spread to most any urban area in the world.
You've learned why this is a big deal for us individual investors. And how, if we apply our "many different possible futures" investing philosophy to it, we could see gains that rival those of some of Stock Advisor's past huge winners, like Amazon (+12,247%), Tesla (+13,265%), and Netflix (+12,247%).
So now it's time to take a look at the specific technologies and possible investments to consider.
Through my far-flung travels, interviews with dozens of companies and engineers, and the extensive research of the Stock Advisor team, here are a few important areas for us to concentrate our efforts on.
1. Transportation
The plan is for the city of Telosa to allow only electric vehicles, and transition to autonomous (self-driving) EVs as soon as possible. This exponentially increases safety, while reducing carbon emissions and noise pollution.
2. Renewable energy/solar power
This is obviously a huge area for a city that plans to be totally self-sustaining.
3. Smart city/IoT technology
You've probably heard about "smart cities" already. Efforts to connect cars to traffic signals and each other is just one example of IoT (the Internet of Things) – and is essential to a smart city. IoT is basically the ability of all kinds of components to "talk" to each other through Wi-Fi and 5G technology.
4. The "cognitive city"
The amount of data generated by smart cities is staggering, and they must be able to make sense of it in order to have all other aspects of the city operate more efficiently.
Like I said, these are important ideas that will be accelerated and developed by these cities of the future, and trickle down to most every urban area.
For just one example, consider transportation. The state of California -- which has faced record temperatures, wildfires, and drought -- has already planned to ban the sales of gas-powered vehicles by 2035.
This is huge news, and I expect to see more of it in the months to come. To take advantage of the many different possible futures on the horizon, we'll concentrate on the areas above and look for good companies within.
I promised to give you a stock recommendation, and for that I'll look into areas three and four above... the smart city and the cognitive city.
There are hundreds of data and networking companies to consider here, but I'm going with one of The Motley Fool's top-ranked stocks across all of its services: Arista Networks (NYSE: ANET).
