Folks – this is just really ugly politics

Folks – this is Majority Leader John Thune. As the top Republican in the U.S. Senate, I've seen my share of politicians come and go in this town. And when it comes to campaigns, I've seen it all – the good, the bad, and the ugly. Just when I think I've seen it all, 2025 comes along to prove me wrong. Now I feel the need to tell you about a truly nasty attack on  a truly honorable individual – she goes by the name of Susan Collins. Susan and I have known each other a long time. In 2020, I campaigned with her when she was one of the most targeted incumbents in the country. I defended her while the Far-Left machine unloaded a fortune to bring her down. Now I'm here – once again – because the same machine just unleashed a vile, deeply offensive attack on her character. Of course, it only rears its ugly head now that she's up for re-election in what will be one of the single most expensive Senate races in the history of America. Here's what happened: A bunch of radical activists descended on key areas Susan HAS to carry to win re-election. They plastered big posters of her with a Hitler mustache and called her an enabler of "NAZI AGENDAS." Look – Leftists comparing Republicans to Nazis are a dime in dozen in Washington. I've seen it a million times. But we didn't expect this level of gutter politics this early on. And from what I hear, these things were everywhere – especially in the neighborhoods that are critical in her path to re-election. That's why I am reaching out to you directly. Susan is running in a state Kamala Harris won by SEVEN POINTS. On top of that, our ENTIRE Senate Majority very well depends on her winning. The Far-Left machine will say or do anything (including Hitler comparisons) to destroy Susan's honorable campaign once and for all. I felt compelled to reach out and ask you for a small contribution to her re-election campaign. We have to fight back in a big way, get our positive message out in these key neighborhoods, and defend Susan Collins from TODAY through Election Day. Your contribution would go a long way in supporting these key efforts.
