Coffee & Cocktails with Nathan Michael

Barista-worthy, bartender-approved | view as webpage   Drinkable décor It's easier than ever before to make Instagram-worthy coffee and cocktails at home, so we asked influencer Nathan Michael to share his tips for setting up your kitchen and bar for success. Read on for more shaken-not-stirred inspiration. Coffee in the AM Proper storage for your coffee beans is key. Find a stylish vacuum-sealed jar so your coffee doesn't oxidize. The more air, the less flavor over time. Not only will you find yourself feeling more organized, but you can find tons of options that add to the style of your home as well. Once you've made your coffee, make enjoying it a bright spot of your day. Nathan loves styling his coffee table with some of his favorite books, a scented candle and notebook so that once the caffeine kicks in, he's surrounded with motivation for a great day. Cocktails in the PM Learning to make your favorite cocktails from home can add to your entertaining arsenal and save you money in the long run. You don't need a lot, but a few key tools can help make your cocktails shine. To get started, you'll need a jigger (for measuring pours), cocktail shaker, mixing glass, and bar spoon. These few items will set you up for success and you'll be able to make everything from a martini to a margarita. When it comes to glassware, don't feel rushed to buy every set right away. If anything, you want to purchase your glasses in sets of two, because sharing a cocktail is really the best way to enjoy it. Nathan's favorite glass is the coupe. Everything feels a little more special when enjoyed from this thin rimmed, light gleaming glass. Now that you've got the inspiration, it's time to hit the mall. Gallery wall 101 with Nathan Michael

Bring your walls to life | view as webpage   Make a statement worth staring at We tapped Chicago-based style influencer Nathan Michael to share a few of his favorite tips for building an interior design classic: the gallery wall. Read on to learn how to get started! Start By Curating The easiest way to get started is by pulling together all of the pieces you're considering and placing them on a table or the floor. Take a good look and see if things play well together. Consider color, a potential theme (like family photos only), and sizing, too. Try to have at least 8+ items to give it the full "gallery" effect. Different shapes and sizes will also add a sense of drama to the space. Add More Than Photos Consider adding mementos from trips and even objects, too. On vacation in Italy, Nathan and his wife fell in love with a grocery bag design from a local cheese shop. Rather than overlook it, they incorporated it into their gallery wall alongside a framed pair of his grandfather's glasses. As long as something is meaningful to you, they're a perfect addition to your gallery wall. Focus on Colors and Textures One thing you don't want to do is overdo color. You can be eclectic, but you don't need to highlight every color of the rainbow. It helps to start off with a color palette and then organize your items into that theme. Be sure to consider texture as well. Maybe you like clean lines and a modern aesthetic, or perhaps you want to pull in some juxtaposing textures and wood grains. As long as you know the look and theme you're going for, you'll have a compass to know when you're going off course. All in all, creating a gallery wall should be fun, so enjoy putting together a collection of things that make you happy! Put your most stylish pieces to work

1 item, 3 ways with Alvin Wayne | view as webpage   Décor that does the most Alvin Wayne, New York City-based interior designer, received a challenge from us. His challenge was to find 1 versatile décor piece, and style it 3 different ways. A showstopping marble wine chiller became Alvin's muse for multiple styling options you can cycle through to get the most of your home décor: 1.  An easy and luxurious way to keep your wine "on chill" is a marble wine chiller. Bonus points when it blends beautifully and adds a wow-factor to your home bar. 2.  Change up the scene and head to the kitchen. A utensil holder for the kitchen that balances function AND style? Talk about a beautiful upgrade! 3.  Need a vase? Grab that wine chiller and add flowers! The moody dark marble will make any flowers pop.
